JM de Guzman Celebrates Almost 2-Year of Being Subtance-Free

Drug addiction is one of our country’s major problems. Even famous celebrities have fallen pray to this scourge.
Back in 2014, in an interview with Boy Abunda in the showbiz talk show “The Buzz”, JM de Guzmanadmitted taking illegal drugs.
In 2013, rumors about his addiction started to circulate online. A series of videos of him being wild was posted on his Instagram account suggesting that he suffers from some kind of issue. In his interview with Boy Abunda, he claimed that he asked his family to send him to a rehabilitation as he has already“lost control”. His late grandfather helped him to do so.
Recently, the 29-year old actor shared on his Instagram a photo of his sobriety certificate from Self Enhancement for Life Foundation, a non-government organization which aims to help people who are victims of substance abuse. The award was for his achievement of having his “First Sober Year”last December 2016. He also wrote in the caption: “2 years this December 2017”. This indicated that he’s been out of the substance for almost two years.
Many of his followers including friends from showbiz shared words of encouragement to JM. One of them is his fellow “That Thing Called Tadhana” star Angelica Panganiban who wrote: “Nakaka-miss ka, Anthony”. Anthony is the name of his character on the hit “hugot” film. With courage and support from his family, he was able to recover from one major challenge in his life.
