Weight loss is not an easy journey. It requires a lot of effort and discipline. In order to achieve your dream body, you have to exercise regularly. Another challenge is having a good lifestyle and getting rid of bad habits.
However, an American woman managed to lose more than 350 pounds (150 kg) due to her hard work and motivation to get fit. Jacqueline Adan who previously weighed around 500 pounds (220 kg)transformed her diet and spent hours in the gym.
After a person loses weight especially in just a short period of time, their skin usually becomes loose. It doesn’t just magically shrink like what many think. This is what Jacqueline is experiencing.
Her drastic weight loss made her legs sag, unlike her upper body which became slimmer. It bothered her at first, but later she learned how to live with it. In fact, she became comfortable in her own skin after what felt like forever.
While she was on a vacation and spending some time by the pool, a couple started pointing to her legs. They even began laughing when she took off her coverup.
While the couple was chuckling at her, instead of being ashamed of her flaw, she confidently walked and had a dip in the water.
The woman expressed her thoughts regarding the incident on Instagram. Along the close-up photosof her legs, she wrote:
“That was a huge moment for me. I had changed. I was not the same girl anymore. Yes I still have a lot of loose skin, I may still feel insecure at times, and yes I may still get made fun of. To be honest, yes it bothered me. But I was not going to let people like that affect me anymore!”
Jacqueline said that those who are body shaming her know nothing about her experiences. According to her, she will not give those people power to define her and stop her from doing the things she likes.
“They do not know how I have worked my ass off to lose 350 pounds. They do not know how I am recovering from major surgeries. They have no right to sit and point and laugh at me. That’s why I smiled. It does not matter what others say or if they try to doubt you or try to bring you down.”
She encouraged others to love themselves and their bodies.
“Loving yourself just the way you are is hard. Others might not like that. That’s ok. I hope you love yourself. Love your body.”
Furthermore, Jacqueline shares her weight loss journey on her Instagram account. She has her own website (jacquelineadan.com) where she blogs about fashion, food, and fitness. You can also watch her on Youtube, her channel is called ‘Jacqueline’s Journey.’
